COMPLETED MY TRAINING!!

Lucky me, I have completed my Learning 2 training !!
Honestly, I didnot want to do the training at first, but after attending few sessions I didnot think it was that bad. I like the library things (as I can use it with my family members), RSS Newsreaders and Podcast are also intersting, Google maps, and You Tube are fun to play with. I have not seriously done anything for work with those tools yet, but all of them make libraries more fun and interesting.

Tags, Delicious, and Library things

It is another new thing for me to discover, Delicious, It is so interesting by just looking though people's book marks on our SLV Chat, great way to access to interest things through one gate. We can use their tags as the finding aid. It seems so easy to choose tags as any user could do it, not having to follow any rules. It should be used more widely in libraries as it is so friendly.
Melanie's Delicious step by step presentation is great and easy to follow.

LIBRARY THING is a wonderful and fun tools for book lovers (like my husband), from searching for books, find new books to read, creating your own library, and cataloguing yours books. I have just searched for Breakfast at Tiffany's by the title, I have got the full information from covers (It shows more than 76 different covers) to author's other books, reviews, recommendations, etc...
At LIBRARY THING, We can find people with the same taste, keep track on what we read, more important I thing it create interest in reading.

TRYING RSS NEWSREADER, PODCAST

It is so amazing how information is shared these days. I've just discovered that RSS newsreader is one of the great ways to view all of the up- to- date information from one site. I donot need any software to download them. It is even better that they are all free and so simple to use, and I know that I can use them anywhere as long as I have access to a computer.
I have not thought of using it for my work but it is definitely something I would love to have for my personal life.
Libraries could use this to publish latest news or lists of new books/materials available.
Podcast is another wonderful way to download information and variety things of your interest. I have just subcribed "Sixty minutes", a weekly program onto my account, and will have to test if it is working for me.
Yes it is, it's so good. Another thing I have to learn is to download it onto my IPod.

Execise for module 2: Wiki

See my hard work:
http://slvdesk.wiki.zoho.com/Vocera.html?atime=1248667659343

http://slvdesk.wiki.zoho.com/AUSTRALIAN-MANUSCRIPTS-COLLECTION-----SELF-COPYING-.html

My thoughts...
zoho wiki - slv desk: some useful information provided, but it's not interesting, not user friendly, I've wondered if many of our staff/patron using it.
pbworks wiki - princeton: this is an interesting site to visit, good and elaborative layout and settings, I like the index to the review on the left and the recent activity on the right. Great book review with star rating, easily to follow, definitely using it in the future.

wikipedia - St. Joseph County Public Library's Subject Guides: very friendly, very interesting With every category, you get some links to it. It would be a useful resource for education and community.
